Foreword
We hope you are doing well and ready to receive a fantastic newsletter for July 2024, and hop around like Raju, our baby calf. We conquered new horizons, and as we concur, West Bengal life is the sweetest life ever. Eta chobtche balo jibon ache! Bengal Joy! Our schedule has been packed since Sunyogi came back. Every day has been a joy to witness. In this newsletter, you will find information about our recent workshops, Sunyogi’s birthday and return from Sadhana, the new book release, our upcoming Universal Peace Conference Mahavatar Babaji Meditation Centre in Palampur, the new Sunyoga Teacher Training Course and much more. Here are some photos from our intense end of June 2024 at Lachhipur, WB, Bharat (India) 🌏 Enjoy! On Monday, July 24th, we continued cleaning our Ashram, considering the aftermath of many celebrations. I took photos of 3 big Hanuman (monkeys) who hung out by our Goshala (Cow Home). One of the monkeys was more friendly than the others, and he even did Sunyoga for a second.Oshit, da, our cowboy, was so happy to hang out and feed the monkeys. He said: “All animals love me; I am so lucky.I received a unique photo op request from Swamiji, which greatly made me smile. I was asked to take pictures of our Ashram cows roaming free in the vast paddy fields of Lachhipur.I “clicked” (as we say here) many cow pictures. Suddenly, Raju went on a zoom-in frenzy. Our youngest calf was happily hopping like a rabbit. At that moment, I felt like my life was complete. My job as a social worker and photographer here is the best thing in the world. Some baby cows started challenging adult cows and gently duelled at our neighbours’ cows as if they had to stand their ground and show them who their boss was. It was hilarious because one of them actually won. This proves there’s always hope, and it is not always the bigger guys who win.It appears that I needed it. WE need Mother Nature. We were live digitally many times on Zoom, YouTube/Odysee, and Facebook, but now we are definitely ALIVE in the real world. It’s the Bengal village life! Chalo (let’s go)! Stay tuned with the Universe! Om Anand OmSincerely,Jonathan and The Editorial Board🪐🪐🪐🪐🪐🪐☀🪐🪐🪐🪐🪐Sunyoga Advanced Course in Junagadh, Gujarat (I)
by ilangoAdvanced Sunyoga Course at Junagadh, June 1-7, 2024, hosted at ParasdhamWe had a fantastic Advanced Sunyoga course from June 1st to June 7th at Junagadh, Gujarat, India. Swamiji led this. There were about 54 people in the Shivir (workshop) and a record for an Advanced Sunyoga workshop! It was held at a beautiful location surrounded by the Girnar hills, and the seven days breezed like a jiff. The prime organisers, Vishu Bapu and Mayur Bhai organised it well, and everything was excellent. We were fortunate to stay in the Parasdham Ashram, which provided a beautiful ambience and terrific facilities, including a massive terrace where all of us could do Sunyoga Sadhana. Mayur Bhai, the primary single point of contact, took care of us all from the moment it was announced till we departed from Junagadh after the Shivir. His level of hospitality is among the highest; he has set the bar so high! Grateful to you, Mayur! In this beautiful advanced workshop, every day, we had a “Global Family session” that started sharp at 4:55 am and was a unique, deep, insightful experience. Each day, a set of Sadhak headed the family: Father, Mother, Grandfather, and Grandmother, who were primary in the family and cared for the entire family, including son, daughter, grandson, and granddaughter. Each day, the set of family heads and children was changing, and it was a memorable and cherished experience. The schedule was neither hectic nor very relaxed; Swamiji had planned it so meticulously that we had adequate rest while absorbing the new energies in various sessions. We had the Global Family session all seven days. We purified the entire Shivir on the first day using Agnihotra, the initiating program. Post the global Family, we had an energetic Sunyoga exercise followed by Chakra Darshan activation exercises and Chakra Dhyan meditation. Volunteers from the Sadhak and Swamiji led each day’s chakra dhyana meditation for almost one hour. The breakfast, lunch, tea, and dinner organised within the Parasdham were more Sattvic in nature, and they hosted us with warmth and love. A group of Sadhaks, about 15 of us, chose fruit-only food for five days voluntarily, all three times. Thanks to the resourceful Mayur Bhai, who arranged these without advance notice. The fruit diet was cleansing, detoxing and rejuvenating. After the first two days, we all found everything smooth and autonomously driven. Swamiji trained, taught, and ensured we were punctual and sincere in learning and other activities. Almost all were always punctual as per the schedule and deserve great applause. By the very nature of the practices followed within the Dham, we all were moving around different places without any footwear, and it was a wonderful thing to habituate! The Dham was a G+5-storied building with huge halls on each floor. The auditorium where we had all our lecture classes, exercises and chakra meditation was on the ground floor, the Dining hall on the second floor, and Sunyoga Meditation on the terrace on the 5th floor. In contrast, our spacious rooms were on different floors. We had ample walking around and climbing the stairs as part of our daily workout in addition to the morning exercises!Every day, the Sunyoga Sadhana started at the terrace from 10:30 for 2+ hours under the guidance of Swamiji with the able assistance of Axel, Jonathan and Vishu Bapu. The first few days, we prepared for the critical 4th day when Swamiji introduced the advanced Sunyoga Sadhana technique, which led to the Samadhi experience for all of the Sadhaks. It’s overwhelming that some of the first-time Samadhi experiences by the Sadhak were at a very high level. Swamiji applauded them heartily! Subsequently, four days till the last day, we continuously practised all advanced Sadhana. Each time, Sadhaks had different Samadhi experiences that Swamiji listened to and discussed with everyone. It is worth mentioning that a Sadhak stopped using spectacles in conjunction with Sunyoga practices after the Basic Course. Another Sadhak who attended the Basic Class and could barely sit now is fully fit and active, walking, jumping and driving his car independently. Another Sadhak, whose eyesight was severely damaged after glaucoma surgery, was not able to see or read. With the consistent, enthusiastic practice of Sunyoga every day and his family’s support, he has regained his vision and can see and read on his own. He is on the road to full recovery soon. His testimony is in our in an article below. The sharing sessions were beneficial and a great learning experience from fellow Sadhaks. The post-experience shared after each Sunyoga session and the Samadhi experiences were uplifting and inspiring for the rest of the team. Swamiji repeatedly reiterated that we must not live in past experiences, nor expect the same to repeat, but complete surrender and acceptance of whatever is coming up with open hearts. Also, Swamiji cautioned that we shouldn’t compare each other’s experiences while taking them as a motivational inspiration. Total surrender is the way to go. Swamiji also guided that if the mind is restless, we should not try the Advanced Sadhana, which we need to start with a balanced, peaceful mind! There were some unique sharing by Vishu Bapu, who is a senior, experienced Sadhak, based on his personal experiences and learnings, who had earlier done the advanced course and cautioned us newbies to look for the ego popping up even at our ability to do Sunyoga at midday hours, or the Samadhi experiences pride jumping in the mind. These are adversaries; one must be watchful, humble, and surrender without any expectations! The energy level of all the Sadhaks throughout the seven days was very high, and Swamiji’s passionate, deeper classes and meditation sessions benefited one another. Swamiji delved deep into some classes and explained his vision and dream of the Universe-City, the Global family, and the Universal Peace Centre mission spearheading humanity’s welfare. The overall experience of the Advanced Sunyoga course is very satisfying and uplifting to every one of us. There was a lot of learning we are taking back home to continue the practice, come what may, rain or shine continue the practices. The group is very excited and will continue to share their daily Sadhanas with the group!Om Anand Om!Sunyoga Advanced Course in Junagadh, Gujarat (II)
by JonathanKemcho bada? In Gujarati: How are you all? Here’s a quick selection from our 1-7 June Sunyoga Advanced Workshop in Junagadh, by Girnar Mountain, the highest point in Gujarat, Bharat (India).During those seven days, we were hosted at Parasdham, the Ashram home of a local Jain guru called Rashtrasant Param Gurudev Shree Namramuni Maharaj Saheb, a Jain saint in the legacy of Bhagwan Mahavir.People came from all over India, and we had a fantastic experience. All students received a Samadhi (out of body) experience during days #4, 5, 6, or 7 of the workshop. We made new friendships, and I was even grandma (Dadi) for the last two days. It was not an easy task to be Jonu Dadi, but everyone had so much fun!Life in Gujarat is amazing, and we will be happy to come back soon to eat a lot of mangoes again and enjoy Mother Nature! It’s hard to express with words how fantastic life is in India in general. Bharat Mata Ki Jay!Testimony from Chhagan Mange, recovering from Glucoma Blindness
This is an English translation of the video interview in Hindi:My name is Chhagan Karmashi Mange, and I live in Navi Mumbai. I want to share about Sunyoga and the benefits I got from practising Sunyoga. In our family, we have a history of glaucoma; because of this, both eyes got impacted. Due to glaucoma, my eye pressure went up to 40 to 45. In March and April of 2022, within two months, I had both my eyes operated on for glaucoma surgery. After the surgery, the pressure became normal, but the vision in both eyes was utterly zero!I had consultations and checkups with many eye specialists. The pressure became normal, but my vision didn’t improve or become better at all. For six months to one year, I took consultation and treatment, medicines, and different doctors’ opinions we took, but there was no improvement in my vision. Then we thought, what else can we do now? A friend circle suggested I join Sunyoga. So, we all decided to join Sunyoga in Junagadh, Gujarat, in Oct 2023. The Basic Course Shivir (workshop) was about to happen, and I joined the same. That Sunyoga Basic Course was for three days, and I took the course. After that, for six months, I continued practising the Sadhana taught in the Basic workshop regularly and sincerely in our home, and I brought that practice into my life routine in the morning. And today (in June 2024), I can say that I have about 15% improvement in my vision (Which was zero after the surgery)I feel much better now due to this improvement. Whatever pain I had in my eyes after the operations and the pain in my head is completely gone. It feels like it has become zero now! Those times after the operation, I had tiredness in my whole body. I could only sit for about 2-3 hours a day; if I pushed hard for a maximum of 4 hours, I could barely sit or do something. But after doing Sunyoga Sadhana, my life has become almost normal; I can now live an everyday life from morning 4 am till midnight.Because of Sunyoga, my eyes improved, and my lifestyle has changed tremendously, too. I have extra energy in my body to manage my business much better. I started going to the office, which I had stopped earlier, and I can now comfortably do whatever business demands, meetings, etc., I have. I stopped doing those business works for the past two years and have slowly started to do them in full. By doing Sunyoga Sadhana daily, I started having much positive energy in my body. I had avoided those small works earlier, so I started and managed them well to the best possible extent. With my full capability and capacity for all work, I can do all well, and my confidence has increased, as has my family’s confidence. Now, I have come for the Advanced Sunyoga course, which is an entire 7-day residential course that I completed successfully. Now, my confidence level has gone so high that in 6 months, I can do much better. Sunyoga is beneficial not only for health but also for life. It’s like a solution for everything in our lives and a medicine for every pain we face. From my experience, you can do the Basic Course once you feel that the role of Sunyoga is so essential in your life. Had I not attended the Sunyoga Basic Course, I could have visualised that my life would have ended sitting at home with nothing more left, and all doors would have been closed. But now all doors are open for me. Whatever work I want to do, I can do it confidently, with the same level of confidence I used to do (before the impact of Glaucoma) With the Sunyoga benefits I got, I want to say a few words about the disease, glaucoma, that affected me. My family has a history of glaucoma. My grandfather had glaucoma, my father had glaucoma, and I was also affected by this disease. We went to big famous hospitals. Last, we went to the well-known Shankar Netralaya Hospital in Chennai. Every doctor said that it’s impossible to improve your status with a deep family history. We can help you maintain the same condition that you have now. When we spoke with Sunyogi Umasankar Swamiji, he said, “First, you do a basic Sunyoga course, and then you will feel the improvement in yourself.” When I started with Sunyoga and experienced the benefits, I kept aside all doctor’s advice and suggestions and focused on the improvements I am getting from Sunyoga practices. I offer my humble pranam to Mahavatar Babaji and the lotus feet of Pujyasri Swamiji Umasankar ji, and I feel fortunate and blessed to get this opportunity to attend the Advanced Sunyoga workshop and meet Swamiji in person and get my life enriched by his grace. Dhanywad, Thank you!World Yoga Day June 21st
On Friday, 21 June 2024, we had International Yoga Day. We were on a mission to gather people from all 195 countries. We counted 30 countries. We are making progress every year, and that is what counts! Feedback from one of our participants:“I feel so blessed to have connected today on International Yoga Day.🙏🏼The first day I am even smiling since my husband passed away on April 25th 2024.”22nd June Sunyogi´s Be-Earth-Day (I)
by Tiyasa MaAfter completing three long years of Sadhana Sunoyogi, Sri Uma Shankarji returned to his village on the birth anniversary. On the auspicious occasion of Motherland Recognition Day on June 22, 2024, the Universal Peace Centre welcomed the return of its revered leader, Surya Yogi Sri Umashankar Maharaj, to his birthplace. Precisely three years prior, on June 22, 2021, he had embarked on a profound journey of Sadhana, leaving the Ashram and his homeland under the cloak of midnight. After completing this transformative period of spiritual practice, he returned amidst celebration and reverence. The day unfolded with grandeur and devotion as over 2300 devotees and villagers from Lachipur gathered for the festivities meticulously organized by Ashram President Incharge Mrs Smita Chatterjee and her dedicated team. The morning began at 4 am with the sacred rituals of Puja Aarti and Agnihotra, marking the start of “Matribhumi Sikrity Dibas” and Swamiji Sri Sri Umashankar Ji Maharaj’s birth anniversary commemoration.Throughout the day, a rich tapestry of events unfolded, including the melodious Prabhatferi procession at dawn, Maharajji’s joyous return and his Barana parva, and the solemn raising of the flag in honour of Motherland Recognition Day. The Ashram’s commitment to community welfare shone through with the distribution of 100-bed sheets and 700 saplings, complemented by acts of service like the Naranarayan seva and Hom yagya.Highlighting the intellectual and spiritual depth of the occasion, a vibrant discussion session saw Swamiji Sri Sri Umashankar Maharaj, alongside esteemed guests such as IPS officer Debashish Dhar, saint Sadananda Maharaj, researcher Suman Maiti, and educator Debashish Sur, engaging in profound dialogues. Here, Swamiji officially unveiled his latest literary offering, “Sangsar Sadhanar Surakkhito Guha,” enriching the gathering with timeless wisdom.Adding to the day’s ethos of giving, a blood donation camp drew participants from near and far, including Jonathan from France, Axel from Sweden, and the ever-present Smita Ma. Their altruism underscored the spirit of selfless service that permeated every aspect of the event, making it a resounding success and a testament to Ashram’s dedication to peace, unity, and community upliftment.22nd June Sunyogi´s Be-Earth-Day (II)
by JonathanOn Saturday, 22 June 2024, we had a big event as our guruji Sunyogi Umasankar Maharaj came back after three years outside his birthplace to do his Sadhana, Research in the Himalayas, where he wrote two books and went on a World Tour. Busy bee, indeed. The 22nd of June started with a great morning, where we could finally receive Swamiji back to the Ashram. I took pictures of thousands of people the whole day and barely took any breaks. In the morning, we donated blood (rokto in Bengali language). I pumped the tube too fast because I was motivated to donate my life. As a reward, someone gave me a very sweet chai—more sweet than liquid or hot tea. I felt like drifting into oblivion and started leaving my body. Everything surrounding me started disappearing. I lost my hearing for a minute as my physical awareness faded away. Even the picture Axel took of me at that moment shows me as a blurry man!Lesson learned: Never joke about donating blood, never sleep less than two hours the night before donating blood, never go to donate blood with an empty stomach, and do not wear red pants when donating blood! We had a cultural program, and according to the organisers, we shared A LOT of yummy foods and sweets with 3,000 to 4,000 people. West Bengal is known for its sweet life. We concur. We inaugurated our new rooftop leadership office space. It’s the most beautiful working area in our Universal Peace Centre • Sunyoga Ashram HQ.Everyone worked so hard for six months to complete this final addition. I discovered we also have solar panels on top of it!As our societal duty for the day concluded, we could take care of personal celebrations. Here in India, we always focus on selflessness and common goals first, and only then can we relax. This is how life works in Bharat (India). It is part of people’s DNA here to feel that everyone is our Universal Family (Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam), so we always include everyone before even thinking of our small ego.Considering the epic day, we had to finish with a cake. We finally celebrated Sunyogi’s Be-Earth Day. As he says:“Matri Bhumi Sikriti DivasMother Earth has accepted me to come.Gratitude for bringing me to the Mother Earth.”The day ended with a midnight dance, and we drifted to our bed happy, satisfied, and full of stomachs. Above anything else, our soul felt pleasantness and peacefulness. We slept like babies.Sunyoga Basic Course 28-30 June
During the last weekend of the month, we welcomed many exceptional Sunyoga Basic Course students at our Sunyoga Ashram, the Universal Peace Centre (UPC). On Friday, 28 June, the workshop began. The first day was cleansing day, the second was foundation day, and Sunday, 30 June, was building day. Those three days are designed to make every student self-sufficient in their Sun meditation practice for the rest of their lives. People who attend the same workshop several times will always learn something new. We got similar feedback from many students who have participated in the “same” Sunyoga Workshops many times. Feel free to ask Jonathan why and the benefits of doing so. Our program and Sunyogi’s Wisdom are so dense and constantly updated to new elements to make each Workshop experience unforgettable. Our 28-30 Sunyoga June Basic Workshop attendees had a fantastic experience. A group of 10 came from the same karate club, and I could tell they were great warriors with fists, body and mind of steel! Mother and daughter Sumona and Tiyasa from Serampore, advanced Sunyoga practitioners, have assisted us for over a week since June 21 to help care for our Ashram, guests, visitors, and our June 28-30 workshop attendees. Axel and I have been assisting Sunyogi, the board of trustees, numerous assistants, and vice versa. Everyone has been helping us. It’s what we call an ecosystem! The best thing is seeing people in an event grow so much and gain more confidence in only three days. Everyone had a fantastic experience and gained new friendships, trust, skill power, memory power, clarity, vision, good health…. it’s hard to make a list because there are so many benefits. In the meantime, as we become 5-year-old kids again, we keep expanding our Sunyoga family with new, unique, talented people from West Bengal and Beyond.Message 1 from Mahavatar Babaji Meditation Centre
POWER OF UNITYUnity strengthens and expands our consciousness. Divine energy is amplified and revealed more easily. Meditation and spiritual practices can be more powerful in a unified group. Our souls seek unity, whereas our ego strives for separation, blame, and control. One can have unity in diversity as long as we stay connected to the true Self, which is One and resides in all.Pitfall: Shrinking into stories, believing the Maya of duality, blame, not belonging, not feeling worthy, believing the ego’s agenda of separateness.Clearing: I release all duality consciousness, blame, fear and shame. I release all fear of losing myself in unity.Blessing: I expand into sacred spiritual principles. I blaze through the veils of Maya. I surrender into the bliss, wisdom, truth and power of Unity. 🙏🙏🙏Message 2 from Mahavatar Babaji Meditation Centre
I love everyone, but YOU are my Favourite. What you give is what you get in return amplified infinitely. Whatever happiness, sorrow, gain and loss you have now resulted from what you have already provided. As you sow, so shall you reap, is the universal truth. You will sow a thorny shrub and expect to harvest its fruit as a mango, but that cannot happen. The first sprout of the thorny shrub and the mango tree might look the same, but finally, the fruit will always be the same as the seed. You want happiness; you want love; you want respect; you want glory; you want growth; you want protection; you want assurance; you want peace; you want well-being; so from these whatever you have, how much ever you have, you are giving to others with as much generosity as you have – you have these things in some form or the other in you; because God initially gave all these things to everyone, The more people wish to preserve these things with them, they lay idle and start decaying, destroying. Instead, if you share these qualities with others, they multiply like seeds sown in a field and return to us in abundance. If you welcome others as your own, share their sorrows and pains, and assure them, always give them love and behave with a sense of good service, sympathy, and generosity, then the whole world will be your home and your abode. You will keep receiving the utmost affection, service, and help, which are always infinitely multifold.Suppose you can see the vices in others as your own. In that case, their misconduct is your behaviour. Yet, respect them, not hurt them, but heal their wounds with sacrifice and generosity; being a thread and not a needle (being a blossom, not a thorn), you will receive abundant love from everyone. You will be one of their own. They will look after your comfort and well-being even if they sacrifice their comfort and well-being.If you conduct yourself selflessly and see the Divine in everyone, serving them like you are serving God, as if it is for God’s love, you will attain God—a rare form of God’s love. This life of yours is not for giving sorrow, snatching joy or causing disservice to anyone. Such a life is that of Rakshasas (Demons). You are Human; your life is for service – to give all you have to spread happiness and joy. Only then are you Human; only then is human life honourable, and this honour of human life is justified only by achieving the true meaning of God.Sunyogi Umasankar’s Message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji
(It will be part of a mega-document with a collaboration of Saints all around India, an appeal to make meditation a mandatory subject in Indian schools, compiled by D. R. Kaarthikeyan)Yoga and meditation protect Humanity and solve multi-dimensional problems in Human Life.
Dear divine brother and sister of the Universe. Om Anand Om.Yoga and meditation are universally appealing and transcend age, culture, and belief systems. They are the threads that unite individuals, families, societies, nations, nature, Mother Earth, and the Universe, the essence of our existence. This all-encompassing nature of yoga and meditation fosters balance within and without, serving as a powerful remedy. Meditation can safeguard our physical, mental, vital, emotional, economic, spiritual, and psychological well-being. It cultivates enhanced memory, concentration, self-confidence, and physical and mental strength, empowering us to navigate life’s challenges easily. Yoga and meditation are the bridges that connect science and spirituality, offering a path to holistic harmony. The transformative potential of Sunyoga and Sun Meditation is genuinely awe-inspiring. These practices have shown remarkable efficacy in fostering comprehensive solutions for physical, mental, vital, emotional, economic, spiritual, psychological, and philosophical balance, leading to a healthy lifestyle and mental tranquillity. They can catalyse a profound shift from the individual to the Family, society, nation, Mother Earth, Mother Nature, and the Universe. Sun Meditation augments memory, concentration, and self-confidence, offering a pathway to overcome depression, stress, trauma, lack of self-confidence, divorce, and even suicidal thoughts. This is partly due to the Sun’s energy, which, when harnessed through meditation, triggers the production of serotonin, melatonin, Vitamin D, and endorphins in the brain, known to uplift mood and alleviate stress. Imagine the possibilities of such a transformative practice in your life.Sun energy, the highest energy source for all living beings on Mother Earth, is a gift we can all tap into. Through the Sun and practices like Sunyoga and Sun meditation, we can connect easily to all living beings, Mother Earth, the source of life, the Universe, and Cosmic Energy. The Sun brings energy into our life through photosynthesis, charging the body through the pineal gland to the cerebellum, metabolising the five elements’ energy, and sending it to the cerebrum, which balances and removes impure thoughts. It gives us tremendous memory power, concentration power and healing within. Students must study to understand the Family, take responsibility for society, nation, nature, and the Universe, and live a healthy, enlightened, peaceful life. Yoga and meditation are for everyone, children and youth to old, no matter cast, colour, creed, country, religion, or society, from individual peace to peace in Family, society, nation, nature, Mother Earth, Mother Nature and Universe, for harmony, unity and oneness in the Universe.Sunyoga meditation will strengthen us to move away from ritualistic education and transition to spiritual education. This spiritual education will empower us to respect parents, elders, youth, teachers, students, Gurus, devotees, fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, friends, brothers, sisters, Mother Earth, Mother Nature, and Mother Universe. This will lead to self-dependent, autonomous, and egoless education focused on character-building, knowledge through wisdom, and self-realisation. Only enlightened individuals will serve as our teachers and Gurus, promoting qualities of motherhood in all activities and research for peaceful individuals, families, society, nations, nature, Mother Earth, Mother Nature, and Mother Universe.Rituality refers to mindlessly and repetitively doing tasks with our best effort and feeling like a doer (Karta bhab). At the same time, spirituality involves doing tasks with self-confidence and one’s best effort while feeling like an instrument (Drastra). This education will also focus on women’s empowerment, child development, health consciousness, overcoming global warming, environment protection, transitioning from AI to Natural intelligence (NI), Universal intelligence (UI), and promoting peace over war.Self-realisation and self-confidence are the best ways to achieve the highest goal and solve all problems. We wish everyone great success and a peaceful, blissful, healthy, enlightened life.By blessings of Mahavatar BabajiSunyogi UmasankarPresident of Universal Peace Centre in Lachipur, Harinagar, Ghatal, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, Bharat, India.New Videos
