Axel Johansson and Tiyasa Sardar’s Spiritual Union at the Universal Peace Centre
(Developed from the original Bengali article by Tiyasa Sardar Ma, enriched with reflections, teachings, and experiences from the wedding)

On a serene morning in Lachipur, Ghatal, an extraordinary marriage unfolded—one that exemplifies the spiritual essence of union beyond social customs, inspiring reverence and a sense of divine connection among all present.
This rare union reminds many of Rabindranath Tagore’s Sahaj Path, where a simple, tender story speaks of an uncommon marriage. In Tagore’s tale, the groom Baidyanath from Aholyapara marries Shyama from Shalyapur. Today, that symbolic story found real-life expression again—a daughter from Serampore, Hooghly, and a groom from faraway Sweden stepped into a sacred bond, celebrated with full Hindu rites and profound spiritual sincerity.

A Marriage Guided by Dharma, Not Digital Chance
This union did not begin on social media. It was not an online meeting, nor an accidental encounter.
It was a dharmic event—organised, guided, blessed, and overseen by the Universal Peace Centre, under the direct spiritual guardianship of Shree Shree Swamiji Sunyogi Umasankar Ji Maharaj Ji and President-in-charge, Respected Smt. Smita Chatterjee Maa.

The bride, Tiyasa Sardar, a devoted spiritual daughter of the ashram, and the groom, Axel Johansson from Sweden, united in a traditional ceremony filled with purity, devotion, and sacred joy.
Axel arrived dressed in a dhoti and a panjabi, accompanied by the barajatri from the Universal Peace Centre. The sacred echoes of the shahnai, the fragrance of gatra haridra, and the solemn Vedic mantras created an atmosphere rarely seen in modern times.
His Bengali—simple, broken, sincere—made everyone smile:
“I know Bengali… I can understand Bengali.”
His love for animals, his humility, and his willingness to serve earned him a place in the hearts of all.

A Union of Two Cultures Under One Canopy
Under the long shamiyana, decorated with flowers and vibrant colours, two families—Indian and Swedish—sat side by side.
Two cultures flowed together naturally, creating a sense of harmony and shared celebration that encourages the audience to feel connected across differences.
Children danced, elders blessed, and relatives from both countries shared genuine joy.

For many, it was the first time witnessing such a harmonious merging.
As one guest said:
“In India, marriages often come with comparison and pressure.
But here, everything was bliss. Everyone worked joyfully.
It felt like one family.”
Another guest added:
“This is not just a wedding.
This is a historical moment for humanity.”

The Teachings that Illuminated the Ceremony
Shree Shree Swamiji Sunyogi Unasakar Ji Maharaj Ji spoke with depth and compassion, sharing the spiritual science of marriage.
Marriage, he explained, is not simply the union of one boy and one girl.
It is the meeting of the North Pole and South Pole energies—
the expanding masculine and the contracting feminine—
necessary for creation, balance, and evolution.

He spoke of the three poles of the magnet—
North, South, and the essential Centre Pole, the hidden force, like the heart chakra (Anahata) within humans.
He reminded everyone:
- Without balance between intellect and emotion, life loses harmony
- Without selfless service, no spiritual growth can happen
- Without surrender, blessings cannot flow.
- Without humility, the ego burns like one who tries to “catch the Sun”
His metaphor touched everyone:
“Sunlight touches us gently.
The Sun never comes down to be caught.
If we try to grab it, we burn.
Guru’s blessings are like the Sun.
Accept them with gratitude.
Do not compete.
Do not compare.
Dedication brings honour—not expectation.”
His words reminded everyone that jealousy, comparison, and competition weaken spiritual life, whereas sincerity, dedication, and unconditional love uplift it.

The Blessings of Families and Friends
Both families shared emotional reflections.
Axel’s family spoke from the heart:
“We did not lose a son—we gained a daughter.
Now we are an Indian–Swedish family.”

Axel’s family expressed gratitude:
“We never imagined such a pure, heart-touching ceremony.
This village, these people, this atmosphere—
it is unforgettable.”
Friends from India, Sweden, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and around the world spoke about unity, joy, and the powerful feeling of a universal family being born before their eyes.

Froukje and Jeroen from Holland
One guest said:
“We dance, we eat, we smile, we serve.
This is the culture of peace.”
Another said:
“What we are witnessing today…
we will speak about it for generations.”

Axel’s parents
A Gift to the Couple—and a Gift to Humanity
Guruji shared a profound perspective:
“This wedding is not only a marriage.
It is a gift—
a gift they earned through their dedication, patience, and selfless service.”
The Universal Peace Centre did not grant them honour.
They created their own honour through sincerity, humility, and unconditional contribution.

Guruji emphasised:
“Do not compare yourselves with them.
Do not ask, ‘Why not me?’
Everyone receives according to their karma.
Serve without expectation.
Your time will come.”
And everyone felt it:
This wedding was not merely a social event—it was a spiritual milestone.

A New Beginning for Two Souls
Axel and Tiyasa expressed the deepest gratitude:
“We both missed this feeling in our lives—
the feeling of being held by a family.
Here, we received love from everyone.
Here, we felt at home.”
They acknowledged:
- the blessings of Babaji
- the guidance of Guruji
- the blessings and love from the Ashram trustees
- the support of both families
- the efforts of every volunteer
- the love of the community
- and the higher purpose unfolding in their lives

A Message for the World
This wedding stands as a symbol of:
- intercultural harmony
- unity beyond borders
- spiritual transformation
- the meeting of East and West
- the victory of love over division
- the joy of shared service
- the formation of a universal family
The Universal Peace Centre believes that this event will be remembered not only in the history of the ashram, but as a shining example of how intercultural harmony and spiritual connection can foster a true universal family— an inspiring model for a more united and loving world.
a living demonstration of peace, cooperation, and divine purpose.

In Conclusion
The sacred union of
Axel Johansson and Tiyasa Sardar
is not just a marriage—
it is a chapter written in the story of universal peace.
It is a prayer for a world where cultures merge, not clash;
where families unite, not divide;
where service is natural, not forced;
and where love is unconditional, not limited.
May their journey inspire many.
May their union bless all.
May the light of Babaji Maharaj Ji and Shree Shree Swamiji Sunyogi Umasankar Ji Maharaj Ji guide their path.
Om Anand Om.
