A Month of Spiritual Milestones and Community Growth
by Tiyasa Sardar Lachipur, September 29, 2025 The past month has been a truly special time at the Ashram, filled with divine blessings and vibrant activity. We’ve seen several auspicious milestones on our path of selfless service (seva) and spiritual growth, and the energy here is palpable.
One of the highlights was the launch of our Karate class, which finally took off on September 19th and 20th. Thanks to the dedication of the Azad Hind Bahini volunteers, this initiative is not just about physical discipline but also about cultivating inner focus, resilience, and noble courage. It’s wonderful to see the community come together for this.
We also celebrated Mahalaya with great joy, and as if the Goddess herself smiled upon us, a new calf was born into our Ashram family! This little one is a reminder of the goddess’s boundless grace and the beauty of new life.

Newborn calf is happy.
UNIVERSAL PEACE CONFERENCE CONCLUSION SPEECH

On the final day, we began with Agnihotra. The ritual was beautifully explained by Swamiji for us to understand the purpose of performing it and the benefits that can be derived by this simple practice. Sun Meditation was followed by a Yoga session guided by Dr. Rakeshgiri who explained the different asanas and their benefits. We were very grateful to Dr. Rakesh for energising and keeping the audience awake with his short yoga exercises done at regular intervals, in between talks. We then heard from the medical field, highlighting how mental and neurological health is essential foundations for peace. We had guided practices and heartfelt testimonials on Sun Meditation`s transformative power in restoring health, energy and spiritual clarity. Later the Universe City Project was introduced, offering a vision of education and community rooted in universal values. A beautiful Bharathanatyam performance by Bharatha Kalaanjali, concluded the event with graceful and mesmerising dance performances.

Speech from the chief organiser, Dr. Jim Lai.
Finally, is peace easy to attain? No. But we can all start – by attaining inner peace ourselves, sharing that with others, creating a Pygmalion effect. Every single one of us can be that catalyst that sparks a transformation in others, whether as a teacher or as a healer or simply as a compassionate human being. We are not going to fix anything in a day but we can collectively set things in motion.
The speaker made a special mention of an interesting Tamil movie, Sarkar, that was released in 2018, highlighting the corruptive voting system. In the movie, the villain, a politician, put forth the question to the hero – “What can your one single vote, do to change this country?” The hero took it as a challenge, used his single vote to influence the people to change their mindset and win the general elections. This is not just a story in a movie. This has happened in real life. That one person, that one vote can move mountains and change the landscape of a nation, of the world. Gandhi did it. Nelson Mandela did it. Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King did it for the black rights movement. Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia`s first Prime Minister, did it with the support of the other races.
God bless and may peace bring light to this world.

Sunyogi Umasankar Ji’s Visit to France 2025
by Prakash Sunyogi Uma Sankar Ji came to France during the last week of August. Staying in Paris for ten days, he was invited to spend time with devotees and their families. They hosted him in various homes, brought their friends for satsang, and Swamiji even cooked delicious Bengali meals for them on a few occasions.

Sunyoga in Slovenia from a Different Perspective
By Roswitha

Group from the course in Slovenia.
“It is a rare opportunity to meet an authentic Yogi, a being who speaks and acts according to his moral standards and is aligned in thought, word and action. This summer, we had the great fortune to meet Sri Umasankar twice. Why go to the same seminar twice, you may ask? Well, besides having the blessing of his presence, the level of information is so vast that it is impossible to integrate it all at once. Many teachings, explained from the heart and with experience, leave you yearning for greater clarity and purity. Listening and always hearing something new, something new clicks inside, falls into place. And as for the practical part of the seminar, I noticed how much easier it was to meditate than it had been all those months spent alone. It was like a little jump ahead, happening just on the second day. Add to that the company of beautiful people, who seem to be honest in their practice and goal, and it is amazingly inspiring. And yes, I have a guilt trip on mentioning how good the food was. The seminar went flawlessly; organisation was great, with just the right amount of breaks, because Sri Umasankars words and teachings can be quite intense.”

“Going back for the second time to the beginner’s course of Sun Yoga this year, I was feeling joyous and blessed to meet Swamiji again in such a short time. I was not afraid, as it was for the first time when I went to the seminar, but rather at peace, knowing I would be once again in the presence of an enlightened Yogi living and speaking among us for a few days, and among great friends, people who feel to me like spiritual family. The atmosphere of the beautiful ranch in Slovenia where we had the course for three days was so peaceful and supportive of all the meditations and lectures. Just being in the presence of Swamiji and doing Sun Yoga meditation every morning was so peaceful. My impression was as if being in the presence of the sun the whole day, the light was powerful to remove all the darkness of confusion, doubt and worries and bring clarity of vision and purpose in life. My petty life’s problems did not seem so important at all as I was fully immersed in the teaching that is so powerful. I am very grateful to the organiser, Martin Pavlina, for giving so much to make everything run smoothly. I am very grateful to Swamiji for his loving patience and guidance, for coming all this way again to give us so much for the progress of our lives. I am also deeply touched by all the people in the seminar who shared their life journeys wholeheartedly. I feel supported in continuing with Sun Yoga in my everyday life, knowing that there will be challenges. Still, there in the light I am always coming back to, giving in to it as fully as I can, I am small yet, and I want to expand more even when I don’t see all of my capabilities yet.”
Thank you very much. Wish everybody higher success, and hope to see you again on an advanced course in 2026!

Art: A Reflection of Our Inner Self and a Bridge to the Divine

Art as Therapy and Universal Expression
Art is therapy. It allows us to release emotions and insights that are too vast to contain within ourselves and would otherwise make us suffer. Every person, whether or not they call themselves an “artist,” expresses their inner self through gestures, conversations, or creative acts. However, expression carries responsibility: positive expressions uplift, whereas negative ones—such as works of despair that glorify suffering—degrade and can confuse others. True art transforms into harmony and guides others toward growth. That kind of art is good to display. Lower forms of expression can be helpful for ourselves as a form of therapy, but they can be destructive when shared with others, so we should limit that kind of expression for others. Just as colours shift in a rainbow, the wavelength vibrations of light, artistic expression reflects the inner self’s current vibration during its evolving journey toward universal truth.
The Threefold Art: A Reflection of Our Inner Self
All art follows an inner cosmic law of three movements: expansion, contraction, and balance. Expansion draws inspiration from the vast universe, where seeds of creativity are born. Contraction brings these seeds into manifestation. Balance then harmonises the two, producing works that resonate with natural law and endure beyond time.

- Alap: the introduction, setting the mood and drawing inspiration from future-to-present vision. In a song, it is the slow, opening notes of a raga that awaken the atmosphere and prepare the heart.
- Sthai: the recurring core theme or refrain—the steady anchor that repeats. In a song, this is the refrain that listeners return to, holding the central truth.
- Antara: the detailed expression of emotion and intellect. In a song, this is the verse where emotions unfold in detail.
- Sanchari: the development and transformation. In a song, the bridge is the part that shifts the mood, exploring new directions and taking the song in a new direction.
- Return: the resolution, reconnecting with the central theme, closing the circle. In a song, it is the return to the refrain, resolving tension into harmony.

Memory, Legacy, and Long Life Through Art
The physical body is temporary, but art gives awareness a long life. Great poets, singers, and spiritualists continue to live through their works, their consciousness echoing across centuries. When art is aligned with universal truth, it carries living awareness that transcends time, keeping its essence alive in collective memory. This is why true art cannot die—it expands back to the universe and becomes part of humanity’s shared heritage. The Divine Purpose of Art
When aligned with higher consciousness, art becomes sacred service. It channels divine truth to uplift humanity. Great creators of the past show that art rooted in realisation endures, carrying life-force energy that artificial or destructive works lack. Modern cultural systems that glorify chaos, ego, or nihilism distort this purpose, leaving audiences in a state of confusion rather than elevation. True art dissolves ego and reminds the artist: I am not the source; I am the channel. When we feel “I am the doer” of the artistic expression, we have a problem.
Art, Philosophy, and Cosmic Law
Art and philosophy must both follow cosmic law. Without it, they collapse into hollow forms. The artist who balances expansion, contraction, and harmony becomes a vessel of divine order. By reflecting universal truth, their creations resonate deeply, carrying the power to heal, teach, and awaken consciousness across generations.Art’s Societal and Cultural Role
Art not only shapes individuals but also cultures. It encodes truth in symbols, transmits wisdom, and strengthens collective resilience. Societies flourish when art reflects natural law, but decay when art promotes distortion or disconnection from reality. To foster collective awakening, culture must encourage works that reflect the inner self’s alignment with the universe, rather than those that celebrate chaos and disorder.
A chess board in Mongolia.
Conclusion: Art’s Sacred Cycle
Art is more than expression—it is a sacred cycle of therapy, realisation, and service. Through expansion, contraction, and balance, guided by the five methods of Alap, Sthai, Antara, Sanchari, and Return, the artist is healed and humanity is uplifted. Art begins with inspiration, explores emotion, transforms, and finally returns to its essence. In this way, art reflects the soul’s journey in harmony with cosmic law, ensures memory beyond physical life, and fulfils its highest calling: a mirror of the soul, a force for healing, and a living bridge to the divine. Life is an art in itself, and nature is a great expression of divine art.
