Foreword
Dear Divine Brothers and Sisters of the Universe,
With hearts full of gratitude, we are delighted to share the sacred experiences and profound moments that have recently illuminated our spiritual journey.
We began 2025 with two Sunyoga courses in Vadodara, Gujarat. Many seekers attended to learn how sunlight can heal, and Swamiji’s wisdom guided them toward inner peace and clarity.

People came for our morning Sun Meditation at Maha Kumbh. Many different countries were represented: Malaysia, Romania, Sweden, Hungary, Germany, Nepal, Greece, Spain, and India.
We recently had the privilege of attending the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, a truly significant event where we made invaluable connections and conducted daily meditation sessions for Sunyoga beginners. This year’s Kumbh was particularly special, as the alignment of all planets occurred—a once-in-a-144-year occurrence. This rare and auspicious occasion has been a powerful catalyst for our spiritual growth.

The planetary alignment and the confluence of rivers in Prayagraj make it a very auspicious time and place for cleansing, a once in a 144-year occurrence.
At the end of the month, we came together as a community to celebrate our annual Kalpatru festival. The day was filled with love and joy, not just from the puja, cloth distribution, group meditation, food, music, and Satsang, but from the collective spirit of spiritual growth we shared. Seeing so many happy faces joining us for this special day was heart-warming.

A specially invited Himalayan saint will attend the celebration of the Kalpataru Festival at our UPC Ashram in Lachipur.
As we step into February, we have exciting opportunities ahead. Two Mumbai courses covering Sunyoga Levels 1-3 and Level 4 will kick off the month. We will conclude with a course in Nepal, focusing on Levels 1-3 of Sunyoga. Additional courses are planned, so please watch the schedule for more updates.
We are also in the process of applying for visas, and once confirmed, we will share details about upcoming workshops in Europe (Netherlands, Germany, and Croatia), which will start in early May.
Warm regards,
Axel and the Sunyoga Editorial Board

A Divine Convergence: Spiritual Awakening and Sunyoga at Kumbh Mela 2025
by Sashanka Mouli
The sacred waters of the Triveni Sangam bore witness to another grand Kumbh Mela in 2025, a powerful event for spiritual awakening and self-discovery. Over ten transformative days, we were guided by the wisdom of Sunyogi Umasankar ji, who conducted a Sunyoga Meditation Camp at the ‘Shambhy Panch Dasham Aawahan Aakhada’ in Sector 14, Harshwardhan Marg.

Many people came to enjoy the bath at the Sangam for Maha Kumbh.
The Kumbh Mela, hailed as the world’s largest spiritual gathering, was a breathtaking spectacle of devotion, asceticism, and age-old traditions. Surrounded by millions of pilgrims, sages, and seekers, we were in awe of the vibrations of sacred chants, mesmerizing aartis, and the collective energy of those seeking higher consciousness.

Swamiji Sunyogi Umasankar, together with a group of Gujarati saints, were kind enough to give us food and a place for our Sunyoga camp.
One of the most transformative aspects of our experience was our time with Sunyogi Umasankar, a revered spiritual teacher known for his unique practice of Sunyoga. His teachings emphasized the power of solar energy in nourishing the body, mind, and soul. Through his guidance, we explored techniques to harness the sun’s energy, meditate with greater focus, and attain inner harmony. His philosophy of simplicity, self-sufficiency, and universal love resonated deeply, reminding us of the profound connection between nature and spirituality.

Swamiji instructs the youth on how to build strength with the Sun as support.
Each morning, from January 16 to January 26, 2025, we practiced Sunyoga between 8 AM and 10 AM as the first rays of the sun illuminated the banks of the Triveni Sangam. The sessions were particularly significant as they were conducted during the Maha Kumbh Mela, which occurs only once every 144 years. The positive vibrations surrounding us during this time facilitated deeper purification and introspection in our sadhana.

A dedicated Sunyoga group from West Bengal practised Sun Meditation at the Sangam.
In the evenings, we gathered for Satsangs, where Sunyogi shared his experiences of living without food and relying solely on solar energy. He also met other great sadhus, exchanging divine experiences that enriched our own journeys.
Whenever we had the chance, we took holy dips in the Triveni Sangam with Sunyogi, followed by Sun Meditation, which allowed other pilgrims to meet him and learn more about Sun Meditation and our mission of spreading universal peace.

Swamiji Umasankar has a refreshing bath in the river.
The team’s relentless efforts to raise awareness about Sunyoga and motivate pilgrims to attend the free camp were truly remarkable. Axel, in particular, was deeply engaged in spreading this message throughout the Kumbh Mela, significantly contributing to our collective experience.

Axel is in search of photogenic opportunities at the Sangam.
Beyond the spiritual practices, the Kumbh Mela was a treasure trove of sensory and cultural marvels. The vibrant akharas (spiritual camps), the wisdom imparted by saints, and the immense faith of the devotees painted a beautiful picture of India’s rich spiritual heritage. The sacred dip in the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati felt like a cleansing of both body and soul—a timeless tradition carried forward for millennia.

Our experience with Sunyogi Umasankar at Kumbh Mela 2025 was extraordinary—a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that inspired and enlightened us. We wish everyone a wishful, blissful, healthy, and enlightening life.

Embracing the Light: Sunyoga Camp in Vadodara (Jan 3-5, 2025)
By Jaswandi Bhosale

Sunrise at Vadodara.
Sun worship has been a part of various cultures since ancient times, fascinating humanity with its warmth, brilliance, and life-giving energy. But does watching the sunrise truly hold the secret to the universe?
The sun—a distant ball of fire, a celestial body, our primary source of life, the light of the day and the shadow of the night—is a far greater gift than we often realize. Beyond its physical presence, it holds the power to energize the soul, nurture inner peace, and guide us toward spiritual evolution.
A Life-Changing Invitation
“You will treasure this experience for the rest of your life. Don’t miss it,” my younger brother had said after attending the camp himself. With his words echoing in my heart, I decided to explore Sunyoga under the guidance of a true Himalayan Yogi—our Swamiji.

I had been struggling with silent emotional battles, yearning for change. This camp was my final attempt to reconnect with myself and the world around me. What I found was beyond expectations—sunlight became my saviour, and Swamiji’s wisdom became my compass.
In just three days, I experienced something extraordinary: hope, clarity, and a deep connection to the divine light that had always been present—patiently waiting for me to notice.
The Presence of a Himalayan Guru
Swamiji, an ocean of infinite wisdom, shares insights far beyond what we think we know about life, nature, and the universe. Learning from him is not just educational; it is profoundly transformative.

His presence radiates positivity, dissolving worries before they can reach you. Every moment feels like a gentle reassurance, like a lost child finally finding their way back home.
When I arrived at the camp, I had a mind full of questions, doubts, and uncertainties. Swamiji had promised they would be answered—not always through direct replies, but through deep realizations, profound connections, and life-changing experiences. And he was right.
A Journey of Self-Discovery
For three days, I felt like a carefree child, unburdened by the weight of everyday struggles. The world seemed simpler, yet infinitely more profound. In the rush of daily life, we often overlook the simplest blessings—like the sun, which selflessly offers its light and warmth to all.
Each morning began with gentle exercises, followed by sun-gazing—a practice that felt just as nourishing for the soul as it was for the body. As the day unfolded, Swamiji guided us through the deeper philosophy of Sunyoga, offering profound insights that reshaped our understanding of existence.
What struck me most was the realization that, despite our different life paths, we all seek the same ultimate truth: self-realization. Swamiji’s teachings emphasised gratitude—acknowledging the universe’s gifts and taking responsibility for our world.
Lessons That Stay With You
Some of my biggest takeaways from the camp were surprisingly simple:
- Respect can take you farther than you realize.
- Being open to new experiences can change your life.
- The bonds formed with fellow sun-gazers—through shared laughter, stories, and a common journey—are truly priceless.

Oh, and here’s a little bonus: no more stressing over SPF numbers or messy sunblock lotions. When we befriend the sun, no sunscreen is required.
A Final Thought
This experience was more than just a camp—it was a journey inward, a reunion with the universe’s boundless energy. Whether you’re searching for peace, clarity, or a deeper connection to life, Sunyoga offers a path worth exploring.

Would I do it again? Absolutely. And if you’re reading this, consider this your sign—don’t miss the opportunity to experience it yourself.

Resting Days Between Vadodara Workshops: A Visit to the Statue of Unity
Om Anand Om.
Between our enriching Sunyoga workshops in Vadodara, we had the opportunity to explore one of India’s most iconic landmarks—the Statue of Unity—on January 8, 2025. Towering at 182 meters, it stands as the world’s tallest statue, a tribute to the visionary leader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose efforts unified India.
The journey to the Sardar Sarovar Dam in Gujarat was filled with deep reflection. Standing before this monumental structure reminded us of Patel’s immense contributions to the nation. The surrounding Narmada River, flowing gracefully, added to the tranquillity of the experience. The lush greenery and peaceful ambience made it an ideal space for introspection, unity, and harmony with nature.
This short but meaningful visit rejuvenated our spirits, preparing us for the upcoming workshops with renewed energy and inspiration.

Honouring Gita Ma: A Life of Love and Service
A Tribute to Our Ashram Mother
By Jonathan Stanislaw Charpentier

Om Anand Om,
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful journey of Gita Ma, whose soul recently transitioned beyond her physical form. Born on January 2, she was a radiant presence—a mother, a guide, and a guardian to all who knew her.
Our deepest condolences go out to her family, friends, and the entire Ashram community.

Gita Ma at the UPC Ashram.
A Pillar of the Universal Peace Centre
At the Universal Peace Centre – Sunyoga Ashram HQ, Gita Ma was not just a caretaker; she was the heart and soul of our daily life. As highlighted in our August 2022 newsletter, she was pivotal in ensuring the Ashram’s spiritual and communal well-being.
She led the Aarti (prayer ceremony) with deep devotion, filled our kitchen with warmth and nourishment, and embraced every visitor as her own son or daughter. Her unwavering dedication and unconditional love made the Ashram feel like home for all.

As the main chef for the Ashram, she made sure all Sadhaks and workers got delicious food.
A Soul That Lives On
Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her soul remains eternal. At any moment, in any place, we can connect with her spirit—through memories, prayers, and the boundless love she shared.

A Gifted Singer and Teacher
Beyond her spiritual service, Gita Ma was a talented singer and vocal teacher. She even composed her own original song, which she proudly shared with us in the Ashram’s mandir (universal temple/prayer room).
Her favourite song was “Shivoham” (meaning “Who am I?” in Sanskrit), sung by Chitra Roy. Every morning at breakfast, she would request to hear it, and she even carried it with her on her phone, playing it as she walked through the village.

At UPC2023 Gita perofrmed many betiful bengali songs.
Her Love for Art and Beauty
Gita Ma had a deep appreciation for photography and beautiful imagery. She often asked me to share captivating pictures with her. In her memory, I have curated a special photo selection—a collection of images that she cherished.

Cherished Memories That Live On
One of my last and most precious memories of Gita Ma was in July 2024. I was on the phone with my mother, standing at the Ashram’s entrance, when Gita Ma returned from a break. She warmly greeted my mother, and before I knew it, the two were speaking in Bengali, exchanging “Kushi Kushi” (Happy Happy!) with laughter and joy.
She even began teaching my mother Bengali phrases, her excitement overflowing like a river of love. My mother still remembers that moment and even took notes, keeping them safe to this day.

A Lasting Legacy of Love and Service
Today, we light a candle in honour of Gita Harh, our beloved Gita Ma.
At the Universal Peace Centre Ashram and the village of Lachhipur, her name will forever be spoken with love and reverence. Her service (Seva in Sanskrit) and selfless devotion continue to inspire us, reminding us that through unconditional love, we build something eternal.

Her legacy is woven into the fabric of our community, our Ashram, and our mission for peace. Thanks to souls like hers, we have nurtured and sustained this non-profit organization since 1997. And with that same spirit, we will overcome challenges, grow, and thrive.

One of the great golden moments I had with Gita Ma.
“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle. Happiness never decreases by being shared.”
— Gautama Buddha
Om Anand Om
May all live a peaceful, blissful, healthy, creative, and enlightened life.

Who Am I? – Main Kaun Hoon?
A Sunyoga Shibir in Vadodara | 10-12 January
By Shishir Venugopal

I was privileged to meet Sunyogi Shri Umasankar during a Sunyoga Shibir held from January 10th to 12th, 2025. I am thirty-seven years old from Pune, Maharashtra. At the urging of my Gurus, Shri Rajendra Kulkarni and Smt. Sneha Kulkarni (now disciples of Sunyogi), I, along with 13 others, traveled to Bhayali, Vadodara, Gujarat, for this Sunyoga Shibir.

A Journey Into the Unknown
Despite being trained in Sunyoga by my Gurus, I was confident and anxious about experiencing it firsthand from Sunyogi himself. The ability to gaze at the Sun without blinking does not come easily, but when the Sun becomes your “friend,” it helps alleviate all physical and mental burdens.

Being in the presence of Sunyogi Shri Umasankar was like stepping into a new realm of wisdom. He is an encyclopedia of knowledge, far beyond just this Earth. Even now, I am still processing the profound insights shared during those three days. Every Sadhak’s experience is unique, and mine was profoundly transformative.

A True Yogi’s Mission
Many feel his energy simply by being near him. His light shines through his eyes, and his presence exudes calm and deep spiritual awareness. While his simple attire—a dhoti and ang-vastra—reflects humility, his mission is vast and ambitious. He calls upon people worldwide to join him in elevating humanity through Sunyoga.

The Sunyoga Shibir Experience
This Basic Sunyoga Course (Level 1-3) covered essential topics such as:
✅ Rules and prerequisites of Sunyoga practice
✅ Understanding the mind-body connection
✅ Physical exercises to release toxins and enhance inner strength
Swamiji personally guided each participant, ensuring proper practice. He emphasized that awareness, discipline, and surrender to the Sun are key to unlocking Sunyoga’s benefits.

Mind-Expanding Knowledge Sessions
The theory sessions were intellectually challenging yet profoundly rewarding. Hours of insightful storytelling kept us hooked—each narrative more eye-opening than the last. His teachings shake your very foundations, making you question your beliefs and past actions:
“What have I been doing all my life?”
“Why didn’t I think about this before?”

A Crash Course in Enlightenment
The sessions covered:
🔹 The roles of chakras, yam, niyam, asana, pranayama, dharana, dhyaan, and samadhi
🔹 The journey from Samadhi to Enlightenment
🔹 How Sunyoga transforms the body and mind

Beyond the Shibir – A Path to Universal Peace
Sunyogi’s book, “Essence of Sunyoga – Let The Sun Transform Your Life Into Eternal Bliss,” expands on these teachings. It explores:
🌞 The connection between science and Sunyoga
🌞 Karma and cosmic energy
🌞 The role of Sunyoga in fostering world peace

A Transformational Experience
By the end of three days, I felt the need to unlearn everything I had known for 37 years and submit fully to Sunyoga. Swamiji’s teaching style was remarkable—he built an instant rapport with us. The Sun had begun to transform my life.

The Power of Sun Meditation: A Unique Blood Donation Experience
Harnessing the Sun’s Energy for Vitality

In an enlightening discussion with Swamiji Umasankar, we explored the profound effects of Sun Meditation on the human body—particularly its influence on blood quality and energy levels. His remarkable experiences with blood donation provide compelling evidence that solar energy can significantly enhance blood strength, regeneration, and vitality.
A Surprising Blood Donation in South India

On February 2, 2001, during a visit to Nagapattinam Hospital in South India, Swamiji offered to donate blood. As per standard procedure, the medical staff inquired about his last meal. When he revealed that he had not eaten that day, they hesitated, fearing that blood donation on an empty stomach could be harmful.
A junior doctor refused to proceed, but a senior doctor who knew Swamiji intervened and ensured the donation was safe. The hospital then proceeded with the donation.
What followed left the medical team astonished. After donating one unit of blood, Swamiji suggested they recheck his blood pressure. Contrary to expectations, his blood pressure increased instead of dropping, defying medical norms.
Swamiji explained that his body rapidly replenished the lost blood, generating intense internal pressure. He attributed this phenomenon to Sun Meditation, which he believes optimizes the body’s ability to regenerate blood and maintain balance.
A Second Proof: Saving His Cousin’s Life

Swamiji Sunyogi Umasamkar happy at Maha Kumbh.
Two months later, in April 2001, Swamiji’s cousin’s sister faced a critical situation during childbirth—she urgently needed a blood transfusion. Since her blood type matched Swamiji’s, he immediately donated.
When the doctors tested his blood, they found something extraordinary—his blood was almost twice as strong as normal blood. Her body couldn’t handle it at full concentration, and the doctors had to dilute his blood before transfusion.
Amazingly, instead of requiring two units of blood, her recovery required just one diluted unit. She felt an immediate surge of energy, surprising the doctors yet again.
Scientific Implications of Sun Meditation

Swamiji often shares his experience of finding that haemoglobin has the same or better capacity for photosynthesis.
These experiences raise an essential question:
Can Sun Meditation enhance blood quality and regeneration?
According to Swamiji, there is a measurable difference in blood composition before and after Sun Meditation. While further scientific research is needed, these real-life cases suggest that harnessing the energy of the sun may have significant implications for:
✔ Blood regeneration and strength
✔ Faster recovery post-donation or illness
✔ Enhanced vitality and resilience
Doctors who observed his blood donations confirmed its exceptional potency, and recipients, like his cousin’s sister, experienced immediate revitalization.
A New Perspective on Health and Energy

Swamiji’s experiences challenge conventional medical understanding and open new doors to exploring the impact of solar energy on human health. If further research validates his insights, Sun Meditation could revolutionize healthcare, offering a natural method to enhance blood quality, recovery rates, and overall vitality.
Could the sun be a light source and life-giving energy for the human body?
Swamiji’s journey invites us to rethink our relationship with nature, health, and inner energy—a journey that continues to inspire seekers worldwide.
🌞 Let the sun guide you to health and harmony! 🌞

The Spiritual Essence of Unity and Balance: Insights from a Satsang by Sunyogi in Mumbai, 30 January

Deep truths unfold in the sacred space of Satsang, where seekers gather to delve into the mysteries of existence. The discourse centres on unity, balance, and the interplay of masculine and feminine energies—both in the cosmos and within ourselves. It is a journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening, guiding seekers toward the divine light within and the harmonization of life’s dual forces.
The Quest for Self-Realization
The Satsang begins with a seeker’s heartfelt question:
“How do I remain steadfast in my spiritual journey? How do I connect with the divine light and understand the inner workings of my being?”
This universal inquiry reflects the yearning to transcend the mundane and touch the eternal. The speaker emphasizes that the key lies in aligning oneself with cosmic energy, symbolized by the rising sun—a metaphor for awakening consciousness. Just as the sun illuminates the world, seekers must allow their inner light to guide them.
The path to self-realization is not solely about external practices; it is an internal transformation. Seekers are encouraged to embrace the Sunyoga (union) of energies within, opening the door to higher awareness. This is not merely a philosophical concept but a lived experience—a dynamic balance between the expansive and contractive forces within, represented by masculine and feminine energies.

The Dance of Masculine and Feminine Energies
A central theme of the Satsang is the interplay between Purusha Shakti (masculine energy) and Prakriti Shakti (feminine energy). These energies transcend gender; they are universal principles governing all aspects of existence.
- Masculine energy is expansive, dynamic, and outward-focused—the force of action, willpower, and creation.
- Feminine energy is contractive, grounding, and inward-focused—the force of nurturing, wisdom, and preservation.
The speaker shares a striking insight:
“Men generally embody 75% expansive energy and 25% contractive energy, while women hold 75% contractive energy and 25% expansive energy. When these energies are balanced within and in relationships, life flows harmoniously. However, when imbalance occurs, chaos follows—excessive expansion leads to instability, while excessive contraction stifles growth.”

Radha and Krishna symbol of perfect union.
The Sacred Roles of Motherhood and Fatherhood
This balance is beautifully expressed in the sacred roles of motherhood and fatherhood:
- A mother’s nurturing energy provides a child’s emotional and spiritual foundation for growth.
- A father’s expansive energy encourages exploration, confidence, and self-expression.
Together, they create a balanced environment essential for holistic development.
However, in today’s fast-paced, material-driven world, the nurturing aspect of feminine energy is often undervalued. This imbalance affects not only families but also the broader social fabric. The Satsang calls for a return to reverence for both energies, ensuring that masculine and feminine forces work in harmony rather than in competition.

The Cosmic Connection
The discourse then expands to the cosmic scale, where the interplay of energies governs creation and dissolution. The universe manifests these dual forces—light and darkness, expansion and contraction, birth and transformation.
The Swamiji shared:
“Each individual is a microcosm of the cosmos, carrying the potential to harmonise these energies within. The more we align with this cosmic dance, the more we experience inner peace and fulfillment.”
The creation process is described as a divine symphony, where the union of masculine and feminine energies gives rise to life. This union is physical and profoundly spiritual—two souls coming together to manifest a new being. The child born from this sacred merging embodies the cosmic balance, reflecting the eternal rhythm of existence.

The Path to Unity
The Satsang emphasized that true freedom lies in transcending duality and realizing the oneness of all things. This understanding cannot be grasped through intellect alone—it must be experienced directly.
Seekers are encouraged to meditate on the divine light within, allowing it to dissolve the boundaries of the ego and reveal the universal interconnectedness of all life.
Practical guidance for achieving this unity includes:
✅ Cultivating patience and perseverance
✅ Deepening self-awareness through meditation
✅ Honoring the balance of energies within oneself and in relationships
✅ Aligning with the natural rhythms of life

The Power of Love
The Satsang concludes with a profound truth:
“Love is the great unifier—not merely an emotion but a state of being. It transcends personal attachment and possession, awakening a deep recognition of the divine in all.”
True love is selfless and expansive, flowing from the understanding that we are all interconnected. When one loves from this space of divine recognition, a profound transformation occurs—the experience of oneness with all existence.

Conclusion
Through the insights of this Satsang, seekers gain a deeper understanding of balance, cosmic unity, and spiritual love. One can walk the path of inner peace and enlightenment by embracing the harmony of masculine and feminine energies, honouring sacred relationships, and aligning with cosmic rhythms.
May these teachings illuminate our paths and bring us closer to the divine essence.
With Light and Gratitude
